Process:
- When the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has issued a Residence Permit for the child, the Embassy can issue an Entry Visa.
This is not an application. The UDI has already approved the application, the Embassy will therefore issue an Entry Visa based on the Residence Permit.
There is no need to fill in any application forms, and there is no fee for the Visa. The Embassy shares the same Visa System as the UDI and will be able to see that the child has been granted a Residence Permit, and who the adoptive parents are.
- In order for the Embassy to issue the Visa, the adoptive parents should bring the adopted child to the Embassy, along with:
- One passport photograph of the child
- The passports of both parents (for identification purposes)
- The child's passport (the Visa Sticker will be affixed in the child's passport).
Please note: It is not possible for the Embassy to issue a Visa before the child has been issued a passport.
-
When the child has obtained a passport, the adoptive parents are kindly requested to e-mail the Embassy and request an appointment in order to obtain an Entry Visa.
In the e-mail subject field, please write: 'ADOPTION - REQUEST FOR APPOINTMENT'. Kindly indicate a day and approximate time that would be suitable.
-
Unless the Embassy is experiencing any technical problems, the Visa will be issued within one hour, generally in 30 minutes.
However, technical problems may occur, so it is not advisable to leave it until the last minute before travelling to Norway.
If desirable, the Visa may be picked up by one of the parents an other day.
When leaving the Philippines:
Please note that Philippine authorities may have certain requirements for bringing a child out of the country. For more information about this, please contact Philippine authorities.
