Applications that are handled at the Embassy will have a much shorter processing time than the cases that are sent to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration.
Cases that are considered uncomplicated and contains all the required documents (as stated on the Embassy’s website) are handled at the Embassy.
Cases that requires further consideration or do not contain all the required documents for the given type of application will be forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration as usual.
The types of cases that may be handled by the Embassy are:
- Skilled Workers (Nurses, engineers, etc) - Work
- Skilled Workers who wish to look for a job
- Skilled workers who wish to study Norwegian language
- Students
- Seasonal workers
- Au-pairs
- Family Immigration (most types, typically spouse, fiancé, common children)
Applications for Parental Visit (9 months) may be handled at the Embassy. During the Pilot Period the processing time for Parental Visit is the same as for Schengen Visas, provided the case is considered uncomplicated and all the required documents have been submitted with the application (the applicant will also save EUR 60,- for the Schengen Visa Application Fee).
Please note that applications for children who are only applying with one parent must be sent to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration for consideration.
