New Pilot Project – Residence permits

09/02/2010 // As of 9th February 2010, the Norwegian Application Portal (APN) will be available also for Residence Permits (Family Immigration, Students, Seasonal Work, Highly Skilled Workers, etc). The Portal is already being used for Schengen Visas. Applicants using the Portal will not have to queue up at the Embassy and their applications will be given Priority.

The first time one uses the Portal, the standard application form must be filled in. For the next application (e.g. new Tourist Visa or renewal of Residence Permit), the applicant can simply log in to the Portal and click on the appropriate application form. The fields in the form will then be populated automatically (it is only necessary to fill in new data for the trip such as travel dates, etc).

After filling in the form, the applicant pays the fee by VISA or MasterCard and books an appointment at the Embassy to hand in the supporting documents and attend a short interview.

Applicants can check the status of their applications online (on the Portal) and will be notified by sms and e-mail if the Embassy or the Directorate of Immigration requires any further information, and when a decision has been made.

The Portal may also be used by sponsors (friends, family, etc) in Norway who wishes to assist the applicant.

The new project will be piloted in Manila and Teharan. A worldwide rollout is expected later this year.
