The requirements for seafarers joining Norwegian-registered vessels depend on the crew member’s position on board the ship. Please refer to the websites below. As a minimum, all seafarers must submit the following:

- Valid health certificate issued by a NMD accredited seamen’s doctor; Read more on accredited seamen's doctor

- Norwegian sea service record book;

- Employment agreement;

- National insurance administration application;

- Declaration of the company’s preliminary supervision of the employee who is to serve on a Norwegian-registered vessel;

- Valid certificates depending on the type of position and type of vessel, in accordance with STCW-95.

Deck and Engine Officers with non-Norwegian certificates must apply for endorsements. The Embassy accepts applications for endorsements for certificates issued by countries with bilateral agreements with Norway. The Embassy issues a Certificate of Receipt of Application (CRA), which is valid for three months, while the application for endorsement is processed by NMD.
